January 16, 1951 - May 26, 2023
Susan Marie Chappell (nee Hynek), of Florissant, MO, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023 at the age of 72. Beloved wife of Carl Chappell; cherished daughter of the late Raymond and Marjorie Hynek; devoted mother of Julie (Scott) Lappin, Aaron (Michelle) Chappell, and the late Stephen (Tracy survives) Chappell; loving grandmother of Jonathan, Lauren, Colin and Miles; dear sister of Raymond (Sandy) Hynek, Patricia (John) Oakes, Rick (Pam) Hynek and Mike (JoAnn) Hynek.
Susan met the love of her life, Carl, in her freshman year of high school in 1965 and they were married for 53 years. She enjoyed reading and gardening and collecting things; she loved a good sale and always found the best deals. Susan and Carl enjoyed going to the Muny together and vacationing to Branson. She was very sweet, witty and competitive. Most of all she loved her children and grandchildren. Susan was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made in Susan's name to Appendix Cancer/Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Research Foundation (ACPMP).

I am shocked to hear of Sue's passing. She was such a sweet and fun loving person. I remember when Sue and Carl went on their first date....a double date. I know Carl couldn't wait for that day to happen. To know true love like theirs, is rare. My heart and prayers goes out to Carl and his family. May Susan rest in peace and know she will be truly missed.
