Stanley Chester Deptula, October 6, 1950-July 28, 2021. Loving father of Corrie (Bruce) Gibbs and Kevin (Nicole) Deptula; grandfather of Taylor and Addison Gibbs, Hunter and Ella Deptula. Son of Frank and Eleanor Deptula. Brother to Dorothy Rogers, Dan and Larry Deptula. Stan went to Riverview Gardens High School and earned his bachelor degree at UMSL. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. He had a love for being Polish, corvettes, coaching and all things NotreDame. Stan loved his job in sales. His Motto was you don't get what you don't ask for. He loved his grandchildren and looked forward to the opportunity to come to their games or events. He loved talking about the stock market and how to "Make America Great Again." Stan was a great father and friend and will truly be missed by all. Services to held at Bopp Chapel, Wednesday, August 11th, 1:00 pm. Interment Our Lady Catholic Cemetery in Lake Saint Louis, MO.
In our Sophomore year, Cathy Hunt and I were elected to the Homecoming Court. It was 6th hour on a Monday in October when we found out, and Homecoming festivities were only four days away. We were so excited, but neither of us had a date--until the next day, when Stan came to my rescue and Jerry Standeford came to Cathy's rescue. We had a double date! Stan and Jerry were super sweet to us. I remember that Stan drove. He recently had turned 16 and must have just gotton his license. That was extremely cool because there weren't many boys in our class who could drive at that time. I still remember riding with Stan in the front seat and Cathy and Jerry in the back. I remember making small talk in the car. They took us to dinner at the Bayou Belle on St. Charles Rock Road. It was the first time a boy had ever taken me to dinner. It was so fancy! When I think of Stan, this special memory always comes to mind. I hope he didn't suffer too much. Rest in Peace, Sweet Sir Galahad. And, thanks for the memory!
