(Published on January 31, 2020, on the Hutchens Funeral Home website) (Thanks to Dan Johanningmeier for providing Jim's obituary on June 10, 2021.)

Jim Chaperlo, age 69, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 26, 2020. Survived by his daughters Carolyn (Chris) Layloff, Teresa (Michael) Schmidt and Anna (Jarrod) Rogers. Dear brother of Marilyn Pearson and Patricia Chaperlo. Dear grandfather of Eva, Jordan, Maxwell and Avery.

Jim was a life long resident of St. Louis, MO. He attended Central Missouri State University, where he received a BS in Engineering. After graduation, he worked at McDonnell Douglas, later Boeing.

He was a big St. Louis sports fan, loved history shows and enjoyed working on cars, especially with his father.

Funeral Mass is Friday, January 31, 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 751 Jefferson, Florissant, MO. Burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Florissant. Donations may be made to Parkinson's  Association.

During my 35 year career as a mailman in Florissant, I delivered to numerous school mates: Tom Gunning, Larry Stillman, Chuck Muich and others who my waning memory can't find at the moment. Jim was one of our classmates that I met in his front yard on a street that ran off of Elizabeth. He was caring for his 3 daughters at the time and loving it. A real gentleman. I am sure he will be missed.
