I knew Helen in gym class and, like me, she wasn't all that good at phys ed. She was always warm and friendly, with a sweet smile and a charming English accent. One day, she showed up in my English class to read poetry to us in Olde English! I thought it was pretty cool that she could do that, but after I got to college I realized how special it was. Anytime I hear Olde English (it does happen), I think of Helen. I hoped I'd see her again at a class reunion so I could tell her that. I don't know the circumstances of Helen's life after Riverview, but I hope she had happiness and "Ahpreel Violets.”
