Not only was Janis my cousin, she was one of my best friends. Though she has been gone a long time, I remember all the silly things we did when we were kids.
tribute by Carlene Linders LorimierI had several classes with Janis and she always kept me straight--what a smarteeeeeee. I will miss not seeing her at our reunion.
tribute by Cyndy Whitacre HartingJanis helped make Honors English so much fun! Her wicked sense of humor and satire made Ms. Forrester's class bearable! I'm sorry she's gone but I'm certain she made life better for others while she was with us.
tribute by Marilyn Varney BaderWhat a nice girl...sweet, kind, a true friend...she will be missed.
tribute by AnonymousThe following wedding announcement appeared in the Springfield Leader and Press on June 10, 1973: Miss Janis Kay Rittel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer W. Rittel, St. Louis, and Paul Reichardt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Reichardt, Overland Park, Kan., were united in marriage Saturday morning, June 9, during an 11 o'clock ceremony in St. John's Episcopal Church. The bride was attired in a formal gown of white voile bordered at the sailor collar, bishop sleeves and waistline with Venise lace. Her Juliet cap, trimmed in seed pearls and a satin bow, secured a veil of illusion, and she carried a bouquet of white roses. Mrs. Robert Cox, matron of honor, wore a gown of pink voile and in her hair was a bow of pink ribbon. She carried a nosegay of pink sweethearts. Miss Susie Reynolds, bridesmaid, was similarly attired. Darrel Deputy was best man, Norman Broadbent, groomsman, and Mr. Cox ushered.
