William Michael Robertson, age 65, passed away suddenly on the 11th of December 2016, at his home in Houston. The son of Mildred Smith and William Robertson, "Mike," as he was known to his friends, was born on the 27th of February, 1951 in Tupelo, Mississippi. Mike was a graduate of the University of Houston where he became a member of SIGMA CHI Fraternity and remained a life loyal SIG. Mike spent 41 years in the Financial Industry, during which time he founded Robertson Wealth Management. He also formerly served as Senior Vice President of Dean Witter. In addition, Mike was also known as the host of the popular radio program "Straight Talk Money," which airs in numerous cities, including Houston. Known for his "down home" delivery and "approachable" style, Mike's expertise and commentary was often sought out by various publications, including the Houston Chronicle, New York Times and Money Magazine, to name a few. Mike served as a member of numerous boards, including Ed Slott Advisory Board, First Allied Securities Chairman Executive Council and Bill Good Marketing Board of Directors. In addition, he served as an Advisor for the Texas Tech School of Business Board of Directors. Recently, for a third consecutive year, Mike was named one of the Top 400 Financial Advisors in the country by The Financial Times. Registered Rep Magazine also ranked Mike as the number 3 Independent Advisor in the United States and number one in Texas. Mike is predeceased by his mother Mildred Smith Robertson. He is survived by his father, William Louis Robertson of Tyler; his sons, Chase Michael Robertson and Cole Alexander Robertson of Houston; and brother Jeffrey Randall Robertson, both of Tyler; his cousin Jimmy Cherry of Houston; and former wives, Eileen Christopher McDermott of Port Orange, Florida, and Georgene Robertson Floor of Salt Lake City, Utah. Mike had a very close relationship with his family in Salt Lake and was greatly loved by his stepchildren; Elizabeth Floor Michaelsen, Bill (Nacole) Floor and Tony (Mary) Floor. Mike shared Georgene's grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they all loved him deeply. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking and traveling. He was an avid car collector and enthusiast. Mike's wishes were to be buried in Salt Lake with Georgene. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet, 1342 East 500 South. In lieu of customary remembrance, the family asks that memorial contributions be directed to Saint Anna Greek Orthodox Church of Utah, 3015 E. Creek Road, Cottonwood Heights, Utah 8409.
